Professional Practice describes how educators put their knowledge into action: designing, delivering and evaluating programs, and creating safe, inclusive and supportive environments. It reflects the everyday work of OSHC, where intentional, responsive practice helps every child take part, feel safe and thrive.
Standard 3 covers how OSHC programs are planned, delivered and improved, from setting goals collaboratively with children to making observation-informed decisions and evaluating what works. It also highlights the importance of making children’s learning and engagement visible to families, which shows the value of OSHC as a place where children grow.
Standard 4 addresses the relationships, routines and practices that keep children safe and supported. These include active supervision, positive behaviour guidance, compliance with legislation and child protection obligations, and cultural and psychological safety. It describes environments where every child can participate fully, feel respected and play freely with confidence.
